The Lowry Center is Oakland University's on-campus lab school. The Lowry Center for Early Childhood Education offers early childhood education programs for children ages 18 months to 5 years. Lowry Center provides the newest innovative equipment, materials, and practices to cultivate the development of young children. For over five decades, Oakland University has provided nurturing, high-quality educational settings where diverse children and families grow and thrive.

Oakland County families have access to several high-quality, no-cost preschool options designed to support young children and their caregivers.

GSRP, Great Start Readiness Program
  • GSRP is a state funded preschool program in Michigan for eligible four year olds. It helps children build early learning, social, and school readiness skills. The program provides high quality instruction to prepare children for kindergarten.

Head Start:
  • Head Start is a federally funded preschool program for eligible children and families. It supports children’s learning and development while also offering family resources and health services. Head Start focuses on the whole child and works in partnership with families to help children succeed in school and beyond.
